Excellent ranking results for WU master’s programs

24/09/2020

Four of WU’s English-taught master’s programs performed very well in the just-published QS Business Masters Rankings 2021.

The annual World University Rankings issued by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) are among the best-known higher education rankings worldwide, alongside the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking. In addition to the university rankings by subject, QS also publishes the QS Business Masters Rankings. WU performed very well with 4 of its English-taught master’s programs in all master’s rankings, in spite of the increased number of ranking participants.  In the “Masters in Finance” ranking, WU’s Master’s Program in Quantitative Finance climbed to 18th place out of a total of 166 programs ranked (up from 19th place last year). In the “Masters in Management” ranking, the WU Master’s Program in Strategy, Innovation, and Management Control came in 10th out of 148 programs ranked (up from place 18 last year). In the “Masters in Marketing” ranking, WU’s Master’s Program in Marketing again achieved an excellent 10th place out of a total of 93 programs (last year: 10th place). WU’s Master’s Program in Supply Chain Management was included in the ranking for the first time this year, debuting at 3rd place out of 46 ranked programs.  “WU participates in a number of different international rankings and is always proud of its excellent results.  The QS ranking are particularly well-known and respected.  These types of program rankings are also especially relevant for students, because they help them select the best programs on the market,” says WU Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger.

QS Business Masters Ranking: successful alumni

The QS Business Masters Rankings are compiled based on five key metrics, and they primarily use data from surveys of academics and employers. All WU programs in the ranking received excellent scores in two categories: “Employability,” which is based on a survey of 38,000 employers worldwide and graduates’ employment rates, and “Thought Leadership,” which mainly includes research output and reputation indicators. The programs also did very well in the “Alumni Outcomes” category, which measures the success of program alumni.
